In This Moment

Standing in the middle of the kitchen, warm yellow walls smiling at us,
Cradled in your arms, my head on your shoulder, you’re humming my favorite song, and I can’t get enough.
There are no words that need to be spoken, we’re talking through the beating of our hearts,
I could sit here for just about forever, but knowing that I can’t is the hardest part.
Right here, right now, this is all I really care about,
Stopping time so the feeling lingers on.
Let’s just forget, the rest of the world, make a universe, where boys and girls
Don’t have to fear the coming of the dawn,
I just wanna drift away and breeze on through, can’t I just stay in this moment with you?
The highway’s standing still, so I dial your number, don’t even notice when the traffic starts to clear.
Cars honking at me as we talk about whatever, but your voice through the phone is the only thing I wanna hear.
Everybody’s yelling and rushing around,
Everybody’s making lists, and making sure they get the crown.
But here nothing can harm us, as far as I can see.
And if time should stop, well that’d be fine with me.
‘Cause right here, right now, this is all I really care about,
Stopping time so the feeling lingers on.
Let’s just forget the rest of the world, make a universe where boys and girls, don’t have to fear the coming of the dawn.
I just wanna drift away and breeze on through, can’t I just stay in this moment with you?
